Richie Williams, 26, grew up in Camden, S.C. and now calls Charlotte, N.C. home. Williams started his athletic career at Camden High School as the quarterback of the football team and point guard for the basketball team. Williams excelled in both sports, earning All-Conference and All-Area honors. As quarterback of the football team, Williams also earned all-state honors and was named to the South Carolina Top 100 Football Prospects list.
Williams went on to play quarterback at Appalachian State University, leading the team to the NCAA Division I-AA National Championship in 2005. Along the way, Williams set every game, season and career record for passing from 2002-05. The two-time All-American and three-time All-Conference quarterback was also named the 2005 Southern Conference Player of the Year and 2005 Southern Conference Athlete of the Year.
Williams continues to play football in the Canadian Football League and, during the off-season, is training as a jackman with the Drive for Diversity Crew Member Development program presented by Sprint.
