Marcus McGruder

Marcus McGruder, 27, knows what it takes to be successful as an athlete. The Atlanta native has been playing sports his whole life. He was a three-sport athlete at North Atlanta High School, playing football, basketball and track.

McGruder continued his football career as a cornerback at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C. As a Demon Deacon, McGruder set the ACC record for most interceptions returned for a touchdown in a season. After graduating from Wake Forest, McGruder went on to play for the Montreal Alouettes in the Canadian Football League.

McGruder learned about the Drive for Diversity Crew Member Development program presented by Sprint from former college teammate Dion ‘Rocko’ Williams (No. 5 Tire Carrier) who assists with the program.

McGruder was impressed by the team concept, leadership, discipline and focus that it takes to become a top pit crew athlete. He is now focused on pursuing a career that allows him to use the physical and mental talents he mastered as a Demon Deacon.
