Drive for Diversity’s Michael Cherry headed into Greenville (S.C.) Pickens Speedway’s season opening Twin 50 late model races with a year of competition at the historic speedway under his belt. Emily Sue Steck is having fun.
The first-year Drive for Diversity participant is having a career-best season at LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway, driving the No. 6 DMT Motorsports Chevrolet in the Kwik Trip Late Model Division. Earlier this season she became the first female to win in LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway’s late model division. She followed that up with a second win Saturday, Aug. 8.

First-year Drive for Diversity participant Emily Sue Steck scored her second feature win of the season on Saturday at LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway in West Salem, Wis. Steck, driving the No. 6 DMT Motorsports Chevrolet, held off veteran Steve Carlson and his son, Mike, for the win.

Paul Harraka was able to shake his bad luck this weekend at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah, coming from the back of the field to a second-place finish in the NASCAR Camping World Series West road-course event.
“We had a good race car all day; it was all about playing the patience game and slowly working our way up,” Harraka said. “We had to start at the tail because we changed the transmission in practice, but we had a good car and we were able to get up there to second.”

Laura Hayes, 19, attended her first Drive for Diversity Testing & Evaluation Combine presented by Sunoco last October at South Boston (Va.) Speedway. Following the Combine, she had offers from three teams to drive a late model in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series. Two of those offers were from teams in her home state of California. The other was from Steve James Racing, located in Clarksville, Va., just 20 miles from the historic South Boston Speedway.

Drive for Diversity's Paul Harraka had a strong showing in the BI-MART Salute to the Troops 125 at Portland (Ore.) International Raceway on Sunday, working his way from the back of the field to the front before a flat tire took him out of contention.

Drive for Diversity’s Jonathan Smith scored a top-10 finish in the NASCAR Camping World Series East Pepsi Full Fender Frenzy 100 at Thompson (Conn.) International Speedway on Saturday. Smith, driving the No. 16 Fadden Racing Chevrolet, finished ninth.

Drive for Diversity’s Paul Harraka celebrated Independence Day with a third-place finish in the NASAR Camping World Series West King Taco 200 at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale (Calif.) on Saturday night.

Last October, Phil Dugan was headed to the annual Drive for Diversity Testing & Evaluation Combine presented by Sunoco not knowing what to expect; what would the competition be like, which team owners would be in attendance, and more importantly, what would those team owners think of him?

Drive for Diversity’s Megan Reitenour grabbed her first pole of the season at Tri-County Motor Speedway in Hudson, N.C., Friday night, driving the No. 92 Leicht Motorsports Chevrolet. Reitenour finished fourth the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model event.

Megan Reitenour is just 18 years old but she’s already finding the fast track to success in motorsports. As a member of the 2009 Drive for Diversity class, Reitenour has four top fives and nine top 10s in just nine starts this season, piloting the No. 92 Chevrolet for Leicht Motorsports at Tri-County Motor Speedway in Hudson, N.C.
